A Nightly Routine

At the end of the day, for most of us I would say, it's difficult to remember to do simple things such as wash our face or brush our teeth just because we're tired and lazy. I personally get home from my long days of shopping or finally lay in bed after a day of cleaning, renovating or something of the sort to prepare for the little, and I just hope that by some miracle if I fall asleep I won't get a pimple if I don't clean my face. And yet I still do it! The last few weeks I've been trying extra hard to stick to my nightly routine and I thought I would share it with you guys. Of course not everyone's routine should match mine, but this is the one that I've been trying to follow along with some reviews and tips.

Keep in mind when you're putting together your nightly routine that the most important things are that you remove all of your makeup, cleanse your skin, moisturize, and get your mouth clean! If you don't take care of your skin it can get dry, oily, or worse it could break out. And if you don't take care of your teeth and gums you could have cavities which hurt and have to get some serious dental work which is pricey.

First thing's first, I gotta take off my makeup and get all the daily grime off of my face! What I use is Burt's Bees facial cleansing towelettes. They're a good, tough wipe, but they aren't too harsh on your skin. On top of that they smell so fresh and leave my skin feeling clean. I've never had any problems with having to use two because I couldn't get all of my makeup off, which has actually been a huge problem for me in the past. However, I also don't wear that much makeup anymore. They work well for me, though! I've noticed a difference in my skin since I started using them.

After I make sure my face is clean I put on some moisturizer. I personally haven't sampled that many moisturizers, and about a year ago I started using this and just stuck with it because it seems to do the trick. It's a Clean & Clear product that moisturizes well and doesn't cause me to break out. That's really all I need to know. If you've tried this and found something better that would be in my price range then let me know in the comments!

After moisturizing my face it's important for me to moisturize my belly, boobs, etc. so that I won't get stretch marks from the little! This product is called Bio Oil and you can find it pretty much anywhere for a pretty good price. It's a particular pain for me to remember to put this stuff on, but when I do I realize how much it helps. It makes me feel a lot less itchy and it makes my skin so soft. I've read that you can use this on your arms, legs and such, too. It's supposed to work really well to make your body soft, hydrated, and healthy. I would definitely recommend it.

Once the baby is moisturized then I have to moisturize the rest of my body. I make sure to put lotion on my arms, legs, hands, and feet before I go to bed to make my skin soft and smooth for the next day. A brand that I like is St. Ive's and the product is just Daily Hydrating lotion. It smells pretty generic, but it still works really well.

Another thing I personally can't forget to do is take my prenatal vitamins! The ones that I buy are gummy vitamins because I'm really bad at swallowing pills. They do the trick though, so don't judge!

I'm the type of person who gets hungry in the middle of the night so to prevent that about thirty minutes before I head to bed I try to eat a Luna bar. This one is a Chocolate Dipped Coconut bar and it's so good. Not to mention they're really good for you and the brand is aimed at women's health. They're good to eat while you're pregnant because they're high in folic acid which is so good for the baby.

After I'm done with my little snack I wait for a few minutes before brushing my teeth with Colgate Optic White tooth paste. I make sure to use a whitening toothpaste because honestly my teeth aren't nearly as white as I would like for them to be for many reasons, the main one being that I was an avid smoker before I got pregnant. Whitening toothpaste definitely helps at least.

After all the primping is done I fill up my water bottle, this one is from Old Navy, and I grab my puppy Kingston to head to bed. I drink about three liters of water every single day, sometimes even more. I guess that explains why I have to pee so often! But in the middle of the night I will wake up with an extreme thirst which is why I keep my water handy. Kingston also sleeps in the bed with me. I wouldn't have it any other way.

That's about it, ladies! I wasn't planning on putting Kingston in my post (again), but he just kept photo-bombing because I wasn't playing with him and I couldn't resist! He was just being too cute! I'm really interested to hear back from you guys on this post. Do you use any of the same products? Have you used any of these products? What did you think if you have and did you find anything better later on? What products do you use? And do you have the same struggles that I do in doing everything you need to before you head off to dream land?

    1. I will! (: But you may want to think of another form of promotion, because most people don't really like getting comments just asking for a follow.

  4. Hi Debbie! I decided to pay you a visit, thanks again for stopping by my blog.

Wow, how long does it take for you to complete all items of your nightly routine?
I don't really have a nightly routine for my skin, just for my teeth, because I wear braces and it can be daunting.
But, I would like to take better care of my skin, especially my face.

    Take care,

    Mirna

    1. It takes a while! Haha. Mostly because of the things I have to do because I'm pregnant. It's worth it though because I feel so much better about myself since I started doing all these things. I also usually do them between researching something, working on a post, checking twitter/email, etc. xx

  6. The prenatal gummy vitamins are brilliant! I'm really bad at swallowing pills too so I need to invest in these. I also love the Burt's Bees makeup remover wipes - they're so gentle and soothing. Great post. You've inspired me to write a similar one. :) xx

    1. They taste like candy, too, which I used too like but now they're a bit too sour for me. I'm glad that I did! xx

  7. Huge fan of bio-oil. I have some scars from a surgery and tried lots of things to get rid of the scar and it's the only thing that works. And I've tried so many products before finding bio-oil. It's like a best kept secret that shouldn't be so secret.

    1. My sister used it while she was pregnant and she gained a lot of weight, but had no stretch marks so I knew it was amazing before I tried it. It really should get featured on more blogs/in more magazines.
